I urge everyone to STAY HOME, Stay Safe!

Some candidates for elected office in Scottsdale’s City Council and Mayoral races have suggested following “limited social distancing” measures. I stand unequivocally with the experts of the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and urge everyone in our community to continue to STAY HOME, Stay Safe. Once the experts, respected physicians, and scientists, tell us that it is safe for our children to go back to school and resume normal, but cautious daily activities, I’m sure we’ll all breathe easier.

Now is the time to band together, and make sound, medically-based decisions that put the health and safety of people above all else. In our local community, all of the hospitals of HonorHealth continue with Visitor Restrictions for the health and safety of patients and the Scottsdale community at large.

Let's look to support and improve our community during this difficult time rather than tear down, or second-guess tough decisions.

I am committed to keeping my campaign team safe and have halted all in-person events. I am as uncertain as all of you about what comes next. I'm a positive person and I'm trying to see the silver lining in all this. Already I've been blessed by suddenly spending more time with my family; slowing down to enjoy the outdoors.

We will have to work together to enhance and support our local businesses once we can all get back out. We will need to help our community recover once health experts endorse social distancing changes. How do we support our tourism, as well as grow our business community? Let's start thinking now! Shop local. Pay any club/membership dues refunds forward. Take a staycation. As a councilperson I will do all that I can to incentivize reinvestment in local businesses and local events.

Let's look forward to joining together, keeping in mind our values of community and what we love about Scottsdale. We will get through this: maybe temporarily poorer in our pockets but richer in our sense of togetherness.

I am planning on staying connected digitally: look for news and an update to my website soon.

We will get through these uncertain times together and move Scottsdale forward, into a stronger future!

Wishing you well and good health,

Tammy Caputi
